New Home Construction Around Truman Lake & Stockton Lake
Building a new house is the biggest single project most property owners ever take on, and it involves more moving parts than any other service we offer: site prep, foundation, framing, roofing, siding, windows, mechanicals, and interior finish, usually in that order. Solid Value Contracting can manage a full turnkey build, meaning you get a finished, move-in-ready house rather than a shell you still need to hire out separately.
Overview
About our new home construction work
Around Clinton, Lowry City, and the country between there and Bolivar, a lot of new construction happens on acreage or wooded lots rather than platted subdivisions, which changes things like driveway grading, septic placement, and well access. We plan those site realities into the build from day one instead of treating them as an afterthought once framing starts.
New-home construction requires timely decisions about layouts, fixture selections, materials, and unexpected site conditions. Defining how those decisions will be documented is an important part of planning the build.
Why customers choose us for this work
Turnkey scope
A turnkey scope can include site work, structure, and finish phases within the overall construction plan.
Rural site experience
We plan around septic, well, and long driveways common on acreage lots rather than assuming city utility access.
Project decisions
Layouts, selections, changes, and site conditions should be documented as the project develops.
Sequenced trades
Framing, roofing, siding, and mechanicals are ordered to avoid rework and weather exposure.
Our process
How the job runs, start to finish
Step 1
Site visit and planning
We walk the lot, discuss orientation, drainage, driveway access, and where the house will actually sit before anything is finalized.
Step 2
Written scope and quote
Once plans are set, we put together a detailed written scope and price covering site work through finish trades.
Step 3
Scheduling and materials
We order lumber, roofing, and other long-lead materials and set a realistic build sequence around weather and supplier timelines.
Step 4
Construction
Foundation, framing, dry-in (roof and windows), then mechanicals, insulation, and interior finish proceed in sequence with regular updates.
Step 5
Final walkthrough
We walk the completed house with you room by room, test systems, and note anything that needs punch-list attention before you move in.
Materials and methods
What to think about before you build
Stick-built vs. post-frame homes
Traditional stick framing is standard for most homes; post-frame (pole barn style) construction can lower costs for large open floor plans or shop-house combos but has different insulation and interior-finish approaches.
Foundation type
Slab, crawlspace, or basement each have different cost, drainage, and soil considerations — Missouri clay soils in particular affect how footings and drainage should be designed.
Septic and well timing
On acreage without city utilities, septic and well permitting and installation need to happen early and can affect where the house is sited.
Standard vs. custom selections
Stock cabinets, flooring, and fixtures keep costs and lead times predictable; custom selections add character but can extend the schedule if items are backordered.

Questions
New Home Construction FAQs
Do you build from scratch or only finish existing shells?
We do full turnkey builds starting from site work and foundation, as well as finishing shells that were started by someone else, depending on what you need.
Can you build on acreage without city water or sewer?
Yes. New-home construction can be discussed for rural acreage with septic systems and private wells. Those systems have separate site, permitting, and installation requirements that affect the build sequence.
How long does a new home take to build?
It depends heavily on size, foundation type, weather, and how quickly selections like cabinets and fixtures are finalized. We'll give you a realistic estimate once the scope and plans are locked in.
Do I need my own house plans?
Not necessarily. If you have plans, we'll build to them. If not, we can talk through layout options, though larger or unusual designs may benefit from a draftsman or architect.
Can you build a shop or garage alongside the house?
Yes, that's a common combination — building the detached shop or garage during the same site mobilization is often more efficient than doing it as a separate later project.
